Scale
- 1 to 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Hot cooked egg noodles, rice, or mashed potatoes for serving
Instructions
- In a large skillet or dutch oven over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic. Cook, stirring occasionally, but don’t be afraid to let it brown up really nicely on the bottom before stirring.
- When the ground beef is cooked through, add the salt and mushrooms. Cook for 3 minutes.
- Add the flour, and cook for 1 minute, stirring often.
- Add the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, and stir to combine. Let the mixture cook until slightly thickened, about 5 minutes.
- Remove from the heat, and stir in the sour cream and parsley. Adjust the salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve right away on hot cooked egg noodles, rice, or mashed potatoes.
Notes
- You can use white button mushrooms, but if you can find them, I recommend getting “baby bella” mushrooms. They have a great texture and taste.
